What people ask
Frequently asked questions
What's the best toy for a dog that destroys everything?
A solid rubber one you can stuff (Kong-type) and a rubber ball that isn't a tennis ball; no plush, no foam. The toy guide says it with a book in hand: an approved chew toy teaches it what is OK to chew, and the one you stuff and freeze buys half an hour of peace. In the wizard, mark “destroyer” and we only propose what survives that level according to its review.
What toy do I give a large dog?
Density and size: solid rubber and nothing that fits whole in its mouth, because what fits whole gets stuck. Regular tennis balls fall apart and sand down enamel; fine for a few throws, not for chewing. The wizard filters by size when the catalog declares it.
Are squeaky toys bad?
They're not bad: they're irresistible and they get gutted. The squeaker is inside, the dog goes for it and the swallowed piece is an emergency visit. The training books' rule is “only with supervision and put away afterwards”. Choco, besides, can't stand them; that's why the catalog has none and the wizard tells you so up front.
And for a small dog?
One it can carry without it sliding to the back of its mouth, soft but not foam, and tiny treats. Size goes by the mouth, not the price. If you pick a small breed or size, the wizard leaves out what the catalog marks for large dogs.
Do interactive toys help a bored or anxious dog?
For the bored one, yes: a food puzzle forces it to try strategies and gives the head a job; start at a level it can solve and go up, or you'll frustrate it and it'll destroy the toy. For real anxiety — the kind that breaks doors or stops it from eating — the toy helps but doesn't cure: that's for your vet or a behaviorist.
Why don't you show the price?
Because it changes every week and we don't make it up or copy it by hand. We do use your budget to sort, with the range we saw in the store when choosing each product; today's price is on the button, in the store. When the store gives it to us through its API, we'll show it with a date and time.
How do you choose the products?
One filter: “would we give it to Choco?”. Then rating, number of reviews and sales verified in the store the day we chose it, and an honest review with the downside included. We don't test them with Choco unless we say so; no sponsorships, no filler. What the catalog doesn't know about a product, the wizard calls “no data”.
What if my dog is a mutt and I don't know the breed?
Choose “by size” and that's it: most products in the catalog go by size, not pedigree. Every mutt is royalty; if you want to know what's inside, the breed recommender gives you clues by what it does, not by the photo.
Health, to be clear: if your dog swallowed a piece of a toy and vomits, won't eat or won't poop, don't wait to see if it comes out on its own: go to the vet. If it's allergic, overweight or on a special diet, which treat or which kibble it can eat is a question for your vet, not for a finder.
