Carácter

Weimaraners are strong animals with stamina and a desire to work and play for long stretches of time.
one of his core traits is that he is people-centric. Weims were developed to be kept in the house with the family and not relegated to a kennel. This strong inherent trait can lead to extreme separation anxiety.
Being a big, active, intelligent hunting breed, the Weimaraner is not for owners who are frail of body or spirit.
Temperament: The temperament should be friendly, fearless, alert and obedient.

Ejercicio y vida en casa

Weimaraners need exercise! These three little words cannot be overstressed. There must be an outlet for all their energy, and they prefer exercise they can do with you.

Entrenamiento

The Weimaraner's high energy and intelligence make training a must. A well-trained Weimaraner is a delight to live with, but an untrained one is akin to a canine demolition derby.
With knowledgeable training, even tiny puppies can learn basic obedience commands, point birds, and retrieve to hand. Once they learn something (whether it is a good thing or a bad thing), it's in their heads forever.

Instinto de persecución

Originally, this all-purpose hunting dog was used on boar, bear, and deer, but, as big-game populations began to decline, the Weimaraner made the transition to smaller mammals and birds.
It's said that to enter a tracking event with a Weimaraner is 'cheating' because the breed's scenting abilities are so keen and its persistence in pursuing a track so unerring.

Datos curiosos

The story of the Weimaraner begins in the dense, game-rich forests of central Germany... this forested terrain was the exclusive hunting ground of the nobility.
In the 1950s, the Weimaraner became the 'dog de jour' and was proclaimed the new wonder dog.
They proudly and persistently put on 'perfume' that only a creature with a perverse sense of smell would appreciate.
